    3. Hello, Lake County Researchers, Lake County OH GenWeb is pleased to announce a major addition to the biographies section of the site. Janet Lisonbee has written a book, "Obituaries and Life Sketches of the Early Saints Who Lived and Died in the Kirtland Ohio Area." The text of this entire book has been put on the site. There is an every name index with which to begin. This is a wonderful glimpse of the Mormon era in Kirtland in the 1830s and beyond. We hope you will enjoy browsing or perusing this fine work. Since we last announced updates, there have been a large number of additions to the site. About 70% of the transcription of the death records (1867-1908) are now uploaded. There are some divorces, several new pioneers registered. Washington St. Cemetery in Painesville has a list of burials from the 1878 map and other sources by Frances Slack. There is a list of volunteers for the Spanish American War from Lake County. We have a new lookup volunteer. There are several new biographies, thanks to a variety of volunteers. We have a resident list from Painesville in 1825. The list goes on and on. Check out the "What's new" page from the opening paragraph. Happy Researching!! 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BZB.2ACI/811.1 Message Board Post: I don't know where the marriage was, but I am curious about a couple of things: did they have a daughter, Margaret, born about 1907? When I looked in the census, they are together in 1900, with a child born Jun 1899, and Williams' married mother, but not his father or any of the other 9 siblings. They both claim all their parents were born in England. Is that true? By 1910, it appears William is in the State Hospital, and I can't find Louisa. Where is she? I'm looking for parents of a Margaret GUY born 4 Mar 1907, in OH or IN.

Marriage possibly happened in 1898 or 1899. They are both from Cleveland, however, no marriage record exists. There is a possibility that they eloped - possibly to another county. Parents of Louisa are James Fred Flint and Sarah Jane Leadbeater. Parents of William are William Guy and Elizabeth Smith. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    1. POORHOUSE Information
    2. Linda Crannell
    3. Greetings! We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com. We have just published a link to a newspaper artile in the Plain Dealer about the closing of the Lake County Home, which evolved from a county poorhouse. Our hope is that the community will be able to preserve the lovely historic building. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on OHIO on the table of states, and finally on LAKE on the table of counties. If you have been to the website recently you may have to click REFRESH or RELOAD on the browser to see the new information. There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS (which explains why you might climb over your own "brick walls" at the poorhouse) as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) bi-monthly newsletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me . please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    1. Night Owl Prowl
    2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Good evening, Genealogy Prowlers, The deadline is coming for the Night Owl Prowl at Morley Library on Friday May 7 from 5:30-10:00 pm. I know it is hard to think about May when it is only April, so if you still want to come to this super evening event just for us, get your registration in now. If we have it by Monday, it is still in time to get the supper orders in. Of course, you can bring your own supper if you like. The classes are specially designed so that you will learn about a set of databases, then get a chance to try them out -- with help, if you like. There should be plenty of staff and volunteers to lend a hand on computers if you need or want it. Get the inside scoop on how to get databases to work for you and break down the frustrations. Don't forget your photo ID if you don't have a library card yet. Get one before 5:45 pm as the library closes at 6:00 pm. and the desk will be closed. Why a Morley card? HeritageQuest Online with the census, the 25,000 books and PERSI is available from home with a Morley Library card. If you don't know about this yet, by midnight on Friday May 7, you will be logging on to HQ Online at home! Fantastic!! For information and registrations, go to www.rootsweb.com/~ohlcgs/ See you at the Prowl! Cynthia
