    3. Dear Luana, Birth and death records were recorded by the probate court from 1867 to Dec. 1908. They do not like to make copies from the big books, so you may get a computerized certificate. I believe they charge $1.00 per page which would be 2 pages for the book. I have never gotten a certificate, certified or non-certified, so I am not positive of the charge. Include SASE. 3. Hello, again, I forgot to answer your question about newspapers in Lake County for obituaries. Yes, Morley library at 184 Phelps Street in Painesville, OH 44077 has microfilm of the Painesville Telegraph from 1922 til its closing in 1986 and the News Herald from 1986 to present, all indexed for obituaries. They will send a copy of one or two obits for 50 cents each, I believe, if you send a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE). Usually Perry obits were in the Telegraph, and they have a Perry news column in every issue. Morley is working on putting the obit index on-line and we hope the beginning of the alphabet will be up soon. It is painstaking work to type all those cards again. For those in western Lake County, I am not sure how far back the paper goes, but Willoughby library has microfilm of the News Herald. They have some brief periods indexed for obituaries. Most communities have had small local papers at one time or another. 3. hello to the list, I wouldn't normaly come right out and ask for a lookup, but....If it is fairly easy, I would be very grateful for somebody in the area to see if there was an obituary for Thomas E. STINCHCOMB, died 5 Jan 1925. Died at Lake Co Hospital. Usual residence Perry, buried Perry. I thought I had the family all figured out, but today I received birth certificates for him and a brother from England and the mothers maiden name was blurry...what I could see cast some doubt. Hoping an obit might name brothers, sisters etc...Thanks to all for at least reading. Greg Smith [email protected] Boston, MA

    1. Re: Question on household
    2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Dear Greg, Are there any church records? You might have to do death time records such as will, estate or deed settling property after death. These often list the heirs. I think school records that enumerated this were later. The enumeration of Youth might help, but the copy I know about only lists the people, no relationship, etc. and no address type info. This is a toughie. Probably will need to work backwards on each of the children. Good luck. Cynthia in snowy Lake Co. 1. Re: LOW, WHELPLEY, ANDERSON
    2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Dear Rillene, You do not say from where you are writing, so I will assume not in Lake County, OH. Your Albert D. LOW is not listed in the 1840 or 1857 landowner maps of Lake County. Nor is he listed (although there is a Sam Low later) in the Lake County Historical Society Bicentennial Edition, a collection of newsletter articles on the area. Do you have any idea in what denomination he was ministering? You might try for church records. He also should have been licensed by the probate court. (or was that his father?) A lot of Lake County records are filmed by the LDS as Kirtland was their home base in the 1830s. You could check the catalog to see if anything might be of interest. I presume you have the marriage license and return. That time period did not give you much, but you can try. Good luck and happy hunting in chilly, snowy Lake County. 1. Interesting ! Religius Findings
    2. Going thru old notes I came across this from an Ann Landers article from 11/12/1996, which I thought was interesting - hope you all do too. If you are a member of the Jewish faith, your religion was founded by Abraham about 4000 years ago. If you are Hindu your religion developed in India around 1500 BC If you are Buddhist, your religion split from Hinduism and was founded by Buddha, prince Siddhartha Guatama of India, abt 500 BC If you are Roman Catholic, Jesus Christ began your religion in the year 33 If you are Islamic, Mohammed started your religion in what is now Saudi Arabia around AD600. If you are Eastern Orthodox, your sect separated from Roman Catholicism around the year 1000. If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by martin Luther, an ex-monk in the Catholic church, in 1517. If you belong to the Church of England (Anglican) your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 534 because the pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to remarry. If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded when John Knox brought the teachings of John Calvin to Scotland in year 1560. If you are Unitarian, your religious group developed in Europe in the 1500s. If you are a Congregationalist, your religion branched off from Puritanism in the early 1600s in England If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1607. If you are a Methodist, your religion was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1744. If you are Episcopalian, your religion was brought over from England to the American colonies and formed a separate religion founded by Samuel Seabury in 1789. If you are a Mormon (Latter-Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your church in Palmyra, NY in 1830. If you worship with the Salvation Army (yes, its a religious group too) your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865. If you are a Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year your religion was founded by Mary Baker Eddy. If you are a Jehovah's Witness your religion was founded by Charles Taze Russell in Pennsylvania in the 1870s If you are Pentecostal, your religion was started in the United States in 1901 Creators Syndicate
