Anson HAYDEN 22 Feb 1846. I think the reason they "adopted?" Silala's 3 yr old Lyman A. WOODARD (per the1860 Munson Twp., Geauga Co. , Ohio census) is because Harriet TRUMAN and Silala TRUMAN b 1819 NY probably were sisters as each one’s maiden name was TRUMAN and their husbands were both born in Bennington County, Vermont. I've been told that the Geauga County Geneological Society in Chardon has Probate Court microfilm records which might have a record of this adoption by Haydens around 1860 but I haven't been able to get it yet. My great grandmother, Octalana WOODARD CARTER b. Jan 1845 and her brother, Lyman A Woodard b. Feb. 11, 1857 in Geauga County, Ohio were two of the 9 children born to Wilson and Silala TRUMAN WOODARD. Silala (Lila / Sally) TRUMAN WOODARD, the dau. of Jeremiah & Rachel TRUMAN/ TREMAIN apparently died soon after the birth of her last baby in 1858 at about age 37. Silala was buried in the Kirtland Mormon Temple Cemetery, Kirtland, Ohio as were also her parents and her oldest daughter, Octalana WOODARD CARTER who d. 1881. My earliest Lake County family is my McMACKIN line, with John MCMACKIN & his wife Bede or Beda ELLIS coming to that area soon after 1800 when it was opened up to further settlement after the Revolution. John's mother Elizabeth McMACKIN reportedly also came with them & is buried with other family members in Madison.
