Kern, born in Fayette Co., PA., in 1855. He married Susana Wooldridge on June 6, 1880 in Knox County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Emmanuel Wooldridge. The were listed in the Holmes County 1880 census. Living with them at the time was Samuel's sister, Mary O. Kern, and a Walter Sibbets, who was 19. His relationship to Samuel Kern was 'other.'
