My forefathers came from Knox County, Ohio about 1875 and moved to Effingham County, Illinois. My great-great grandfather was William N. Dowds, Sr. and he was married to Sarah Ann Beck. His son was William N. Dowds, Jr. and he was married to Sarah Higgs. Their son was Alva N. Dowds and he married Zora Pendlay. Their son Milan Ray Dowds is my father.
