His father, a revolutionary war veteran, came to Ohio about 1800 from New Jersey. Josep[h served in the War of 1812. All I know of the family is that he had one son, Elias=born 1828, who went to find gold in California in 1849. I would like to learn more about this family.

    3. Hi, Military pension files can be very informative. You should send for Joseph Blair's War of 1812 pension file. Even if he didn't get a pension because his application was rejected - the govt will send you the rejected file - which can provide more clues. Use the same NATF 80 form that is used for Civil War Pension Files. The Revolutionarey War pension files are on microfilm - have you tried to see if any Blair man was receiving a pension from Knox County, Ohio? There are index books available to look up surnames of pensioners and where they were living when claiming the pension and at the time of death. This would help you find Joseph's father's name. If such a person claimed a pension and was living in Knox County, Ohio you could then order the micro-film from your local Family History Center to read his pension file (and get a photo-copy for your files). Hope this helps - Denise Crawford > Surname: Blair > Joserph Blair of Liberty Twp of Knox Co. married Rebecca Bennington.
