I was referring to anyone making a query. Oft times, someone will post a query "Looking for information on siblings of John Carter." The query should have listed a geographic location and approximate year of an event; birth, marriage, death; whatever. In the above example the reader can guess that the John Carter being researched is from OHKNOX if that is where the query is posted. But are you looking for the John Carter of 1803; 1828; 1853; 1877 or some other time period? Queries should be short, but they must give enough information to get the reader to say - "Yes, I know this John Carter." and reply to your query. But you knew all of this, didn't you? ----------------- Coleen and Dick Hardin wrote: Ken, I saw the following message on the Knox County, Ohio, GenWeb (your message had been forwarded on to GenWeb by Maggie Stewart). In the last paragraph, under "Point 2," you said, "When querying the site for ancestors." I was just wondering which site you're referring to, since I am interested (snip)
