I am looking for any information anyone might have regarding the Brining family in Mt. Vernon, OH. As near as I can figure, they settled there (from England) somewhere quite near 1890. John L and his wife Eliza, their son William and daughter Jane (my gggrandma) made up the original family. After they settled in Mt. Vernon, they had six more children: Anne, Edwin, Elsie, Helen, James and Charlot (Lottie). I have found death records for all three sons showing they died in Mt. Vernon. My gggrandmother, Jane, married Nelson Nugent (either in OH or MI - he was born in MI) and they had three children: John R., Hazel M. (my ggrandmother) and Margaret. John still lives in Mt. Vernon and I hope to contact him soon. Hazel's daughter, Maxine (my grandmother), gave birth to my mother, Barbara. Maxine told my mother that the Brinings were a well-known family in the area and that he was a tobacconist and his store stocked all of the newspapers from around the world and many other imported items. I was told that the store was in the family (either Brining or Nugent) for around 100 years. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. I would appreciate any information (no matter how trivial) anyone can give me, since I cannot find much of anything online regarding the family. Thank you so much! Leah R.
