I think the laws that cover copyright in this area are very, very, very gray....particularly when it comes to sharing information over such a wide area as the Internet. When these laws were written there was no such thing as the World Wide Web. As a librarian I am enthusiastic about putting information in the hands of as many people as possible....Once I purchase a book I feel like it is my right to share what is in it with whomever I chose, giving credit where credit is due. Genealogy is a hobby that is embraced by people at many income levels, nobody can afford to buy all the books that might touch upon their line of ancestors, and isn't the point to discover history?
