I thought some of you might find this interesting... While on vacation in Knox County this past summer, I spoke with a county commissioner. He told me that most of the roads were given names abt 1986 when the 911 telephone system went into effect there. The roads were given the names of the family who had lived on that road for the longest amount of time, not necessarily the earliest family living there. Road maps are available for $2.50 (unless the price has gone up since summer) from the map dept in the county offices. It's very interesting to see all those Knox County family names on the map.
