    1. Frazier, Frazer
    2. My family members have been hitting the same "brick wall" for many years. We have been trying to figure who the parents and/or siblings of Phenes Frazer was. Phenes (Phineas, Phinneas, Finias, etc.) Frazer (Frazier, Fraysure, Fraser, Frasher, etc.) was born February, 1827 in Linton Township in Coshocton County, Ohio. On Oct. 24, 1852 in Knox County, Ohio he married Mary Jane Buxton (b. April, 1831 in Coshocton County and was known as "Jane" by at least some Buxton family members). Seven children were born to this union (all born in Knox County, except the 3rd child): Elizabeth Marie (b. 1854); William Madison (b. 1856); Hatty L. (b. 1861 in Delaware, Delaware Co., Ohio); Ella Dora (b. 1864); Hettie Melissa (b. 1868); Charles Wesley (b. 1871 -- my grandfather); and Elmer Stewart (b. 1874). In the 1860 census they were living in Delaware, Delaware Co., Ohio with their 3 oldest children and the following people by the name of Furgerson: George, Sarah, James, Margaret, and ! Lucy. None of our family has heard of any of these people or their connection to Phenes and Mary Jane. Phenes inherited land in Union County from Solomon Courtright, which Phenes sold shortly after inheriting it. He, Mary Jane and their children then moved back to Knox County, Ohio where land was purchased (in Mary Jane's name) in Milford Township. They later moved to Morrow County in the vicinity of Sparta. Phenes died Sept. 2, 1892 in Morrow County. Mary Jane (known by then as "Mother Frazier" to the local people) died Aug. 9, 1905. They are both buried at Hedding Chapel cemetery in Morrow County. Various family members feel that Phenes' father was possibly named William or Charles (both owned land in Linton Township, Coshocton Co., Ohio). However, my brother has decided that possibly Phenes' father's name was Henry, providing the following information: We know Henry came to Coshocton County around 1816 We know Henry was in the Coshocton County census 1820 and 1830 We know Henry had a son born between 1825-1827 We know Henry lived in Linton Township We know Phenes was born in Linton Township We know Henry Frazier sold his property in 1834 We know his wife's name was Mary. There was a Henry Frazer (Frasher, Fraysure, etc.) who lived in Jelloway, Knox County, Ohio. He had a wife named Mary. If anyone has any information on any of these people I've listed or any idea of how to possibly connect them, please e-mail me. We have the descendents of Phenes and Mary Jane Frazier. We also have the ancestors of Mary Jane Buxton Frazier. Thanks! Shirley
