Ken Reader thanks so much for sending this article to the list, I surely did enjoy it. My father and his sister were given away to and aunt and uncle to be raised by, so that the stepfather didn't kill them....he said he would if the mother didn't get rid of them. My Grandfather on my maternal side also refused to have one of the children in his home that he didn't like her, she also was given away to another family to raise. Children were not treated well many times...bonded out,given away, and then their were the orphan trains...it is a sad thing. It is our history. Bev Henry-Bishop
