The two girls living with John J at the time of the 1860 census, Hannah and Dorcas Veach, are his nieces...daughters of his sister Elizabeth Kerr (b 04 Jan 1813, OH; d 04 Sep 1849, Knox Co). She married Ellis Veach (b 1810, PA; d 18 AUg 1855, Knox Co) on 13 Mar 1834 in Knox County. You will find Ellis and 6 children in the Pleasant Township census of 1850. Both Ellis and Elizabeth are buried at the Veach Cemetery in Harrison Township, Knox County. [NOTE: His age at death is erroneously transcribed in the Knox County Cemetery Book, Vol I, as 77. Should have been 44.] I haven't tracked down the older children yet, but the youngest daughter, Mary E, is living with Ellis's sister or sister-in-law at the time of the 1860 census. The older children were probably married by then. They also had a son, Byron M, who died as an infant and is buried with his parents at Veach Cemetery. No dates on his tombstone, but I assume he was either the first born, or born between 1844-1848 and deceased before the 1850 census.
