Walter L. Vance is buried in Mound View Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, OH, tombstone date of death 1909, age 62 years. He died shortly after the official certification of deaths was transferred from the counties to the State of Ohio. With luck, his death certificate was reported to the State. The Ohio Historical Society has the death certificates from Dec 1908 ff. on microfilm. You can contact them online and receive instructions how to order a copy of his death certificate (if one was filed). It took a year or two before all the counties got the hang of reporting the death within their boundaries. You can try the Knox County Health Department but don't hold your breath.
