Alice, I imagine this is a stretch but I have some Daugherty ancestors who I first pick up in Hardin Co., KY: Descendants of Alexander C. Daugherty 1 Daugherty, Alexander C. b: 7/09/1855 in Hardin Co., KY d: 12/24/1922 in Arthur, Douglas Co., IL . +Thomas, Sarah E. b: Abt. 1863 d: 1930 in Arthur, Douglas Co., IL Father: Husband Thomas 2 Daugherty, Maud Lulu b: 7/17/1886 d: 4/21/1906 in Champaign, Champaign Co., IL .... +Bolton, Alva Odis b: 2/23/1877 in Bowling Green, Clay Co., IN/Clay Co., IN m: Abt. 1900 in Charleston, Coles Co., IL d: 5/31/1954 in Champaign, Champaign Co., IL Father: James Bolton Mother: Elizabeth Jane Marriott 2 Daugherty, Ruby b: 7/16/1905 in West Salem, IL d: 4/20/1973 in Arthur, IL .... +Thomas, Harve m: 8/12/1934 in Murdock, IL d: 1969 The Alva Bolton noted above, his father (James Bolton) was in Clay Twp., Knox Co., OH by the 1850 census and he was married to an Elizabeth Marriott from Licking Co., OH. James was the son of a Lewis Bolton who apparently migrated from Germany, settling first in VA before moving on to Knox Co. I've never been able to turn up a possible place in VA where they initially settled. Like I said, this may all be a stretch to connect but thought maybe that's how the Daugherty's ended up in IN, having moved from OH with the Bolton line. Let me know you thoughts. Susan
Susan, I don't see a connection but that doesn't mean there isn't one. I will keep your information and perhaps one will develop........Alice ----- Original Message ----- From: <Muglich@aol.com> To: <OHKNOX-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 14, 2000 5:46 PM Subject: Re: very early Knox County settlers. > Alice, > > I imagine this is a stretch but I have some Daugherty ancestors who I first > pick up in Hardin Co., KY: > > Descendants of Alexander C.
