    3. It has been some time since I posted to this forum and I know a lot more about my Grtgrtgrt Grandparents James and Elizabeth (Daugherty, Dougherty, Dorthy) Rightmire Sr.than I did last time I posted. They were among the very early settlers of Union township, Knox County. Some time around 1808. Maybe before. James was a Captain in the War of 1812 and commanded a large troop of men. Some of the men probably from Licking County. They were the parents of Benjamin who married Martha Holt in 1833 in Coshocton County. (My grtgrt Grandparents) The following children of this couple were married in Knox County . James Jr who married Lydia Crichfeild, Harrison who married Amy Crichfeild, John who married Anna (Hannah) Crichfeild, William who married Lucinda Welker, Sarah who married Moses Thompsen, Mahalia who married John Trott, Jane who married David Harrod, Elizabeth who married John Madden. Isaac who died and is buried in Knox County, James Rightmire Sr's last will and testament was located in Harden County where he died in 1863. I know that James and Elizabeth came to Knox County from Virginia. They were probably married in Monongala County in 1802. Usually when such a move was made it was with other relatives or possibly friends. Can I hear from those of you that had very early settlers to Knox County from Virginia. What location in Virginia did they come from.?? Was there a church group that made the move ? Any suggestions welcome.... Alice

    3. To find the church group, you might want to see who married the kids after the move...unless Jp's married them. Several of mine (SWAILES/SWALES, VIAN, & PERKINS) were in Knox Co. prior to 1820 but as far as I can ascertain, came from Maryland. (My GRUBBS came later from Stark Co.) and some of the siblings of my line came from Pa: or by way of Pa: LYBARGERS & CASTEELS. 3. Hi Alice, I just got back from vacation - hence the slow response. My Jonathan & Rebecca Harris and all their married children came to Knox County, Ohio about 1815 from Monongalia Co, Virginia (now Preston Co, West Virginia). Some other families that came from that same area were - Severe, Askins, Van Sickle and Roberts. I'm sure there were others but my brain is tired after driving all day. My Harris family settled in S. Bloomfield Twp which is now in Morrow County. I have no knowledge of a religous move. My Harris family probably moved for the land as they bought from the government and I have copies of their land patents.
