Mrs. Lizzie Klotz started on Wednesday morning of last week to visit her parents in Waterloo, Ind. She will probably be gone until near the holidays. ... On last Thursday about 12 o'clock, local freight No. 13, extra, ran into the caboose of train No. 13 proper, when near George Carriger's, throwing it from the track and also the engine and several cars of No. 13 extra, making a complete wreck of all. One car load of wheat was unloaded by the side of the fence and greatly damaged by four or five barrels of coal oil that were on the front car, being demolished and running into it. A portion of two other cars of wheat were lost but fortunately a number of the cars were empty. The crash was heard two and a half miles around, and the track was not cleared so that trains could pass until about 9 p.m. No lives were lost as nearly all the hands jumped from the trains in time to escape injury. The accident was near a sharp curve, which prevented the engine of the rear train from seeing the other until too late to stop.
