This Charlie was maried to May C Colopy and they lived in stark county. But he was from Danville, OH. Actually, we lived next door to their daughter, Teresa, in Canal Fulton, OH, when we lived there. I think Durbin was Ellen's married name I don't know her maiden name, that's what I'm trying to find out. Would like to finish this side of puzzle before I move on. Every time I think I'm moving forward, I run into a brick wall. Thanks so much for your help. I have their wedding picture with Charlie in it, if your interested. Author: CherylQ54 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.knox/2970.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Durbin is one of my extended names, my family the Colopys arrived in Danville in about 1810 and most of them still live there. Durbin turns up in that line. Here is what I can tell you....There is a book title "St. Luke's Records 1829-1920s" It is a record of baptisms, marriages and deaths over all those years. St. Lukes is the second oldest catholic church in Ohio. Now on page 116 there is a record of Francis Walter Davis, b. 7 Dec 1883, baptized on 13 June 1886. He is the son of Samuel F. Davis (non catholic) and Elizabeth Blubaugh. His sponsors were Francis Gardner and his wife. Another son named Francis Henry was also baptized this same day, Francis Henry was born in 1885. I can tell you that the Blubaughs and the Durbins were also related. On page 110 there is a record of another child born to Samuel F. Davis and Elizabeth Blubaugh. This child was named Charles Raymond and he was born 27 Jul 1881. On page 157 there is a record of the marriage of Samuel F. Davis (non cath) who married Elizabeth Blubaugh on 25 Nov 1880. The witnesses were Jacob Blubaugh & Jane Davis. There is also a note that said "Samuel has promised not to interfer with wife's religious duties or religious training of the children.) I looked in the Ohio history death and found 1 Ellen Durbin who died 8/28/1922, which could be about right, but it says Williams county. I don't know where this is. I would like to know Ellen's maiden name, her husband's name, marriage date, and her Death date and where she's buried. Any information on Frank or Walter and their family would be much appreciated. Author: Nira349 Surnames: PORTER Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.knox/2969/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am wondering if anyone knows where the records to this cemetery might be? I have several ancestors who are buried here. Only one ancestor, my great uncle Frederick M. PORTER (b. 1879 d. 1966) is listed in the volumes of "Cemetery Records of Knox County". I'm assuming the others have no tombstones. I have the death certificates for Leander PORTER (d. 28 Apr 1917), Harry L. PORTER (d. 13 Dec 1947), and Mary R. PORTER (d. 9 Jun 1923), all of which state that they are buried in this St. Johns Cemetery. I know this is an active cemetery as I have seen an obituary for someone who was buried there earlier this year. Since it would be required to know where there are open spaces before burying someone there has to be records of this cemetery somewhere. The church St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran was at one time next to this cemetery, but no longer exists. I am wondering if any records from this church exists to the day, and are now kept somewhere by the county for this cemetery? I have read that the church basically disappeared in the 1880s. Thanks for any info anyone can provide! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [OHKNOX] MAHAFFEY Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of G. O. MAHAFFEY which was taken at the M. A. Loomis Studio in Jefferson, Ohio. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Mr. MAHAFFEY appearing to be in his 40's or 50's at the time it was taken. The photograph was recovered along with one of Fred WOOD also from Jefferson, OH though I have no idea if there is a connection, but I mention this just in case it provides a clue. Based on limited research I was able to locate the family in census records as follows: 1870 census of Mt. Vernon, OH: William MAHAFFEY, age 37, a Blacksmith, born OH Margaret MAHAFFEY, age 37, Keeps House, born OH Mary MAHAFFEY, age 17, born OH Charles MAHAFFEY, age 15, born OH Gilman MAHAFFEY, age 13, born OH Joseph MAHAFFEY, age 11, born OH William MAHAFFEY, age 8, born OH Carsander MAHAFFEY, age 3, born OH 1880 census of Mt. Vernon, OH: William MAHAFFEY, age 48, a Blacksmith, born OH, parents born PA Margaret J. MAHAFFEY, wife, age 48, Keeps House, born OH, parents born OH/MD Gilman MAHAFFEY, son, age 23, a Student, born OH Joseph F. MAHAFFEY, son, age 20, a Laborer, born OH William E. MAHAFFEY, son, age 18, at School, born OH Casander MAHAFFEY, son, age 13, at School, born OH Hugh L. MAHAFFEY, son, age 7, born OH 1910 census of Jefferson Township, OH: Gilman O. MAHAFFEY, age 53, married 19 years, born OH, parents born OH, a Physician Jennie MAHAFFEY, wife, age 47, married 19 years, no children, born OH, parents born OH I am hoping to locate someone from this MAHAFFEY Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
