I'm thinking the Colopy's. And what happened to Frank. This is sure a puzzle. One other thing, it was a family 'story', that Frank was killed by a train, truth or fiction? Maybe, I'm putting a 2000 century twist to this. Maybe, they didn't feel the boys would survive going out west, because of their age? Doesn't look good for my Great Grandparent's, that's for sure. If they are my Grat Grandparent's. And according to St Luke's and what you've told me so far, they are. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In 1910 and 1920 the Samuel F. Davis family turns up in Roy, New Mexico. On the same page as Samuel and Elizabeth most of the older boys are listed as heads of their own households. Another mystifying fact. On the 1900 census one of the questions that was asked was "mother of how many" and then a follow up question..."how many living? Elizabeth answered 10 and then 7. You can see by the list I sent you that 7 is the number that were actually with her at the time. On the 1910 census there is another son. I have located in Oklahoma in 1900 Samuel F Davis, wife Elizabeth and their oldest child Charles Raymond-as well as a list of other children...Charles was born in Ohio in 1881, then Mary E born in Kansas in 1882, then Carrie born in Kansas in 1887, then Leo S born in Kansas in 1888, then Herbert W born in Kansas in 1890, then John B born in Oklahoma in 1895, then Clementine born in Oklahoma in 1897. I am guessing that this family started in Knox County, went to Kansas-couldn't make it, came back to their roots in Ohio and then went west again. For whatever reason they must has left Walter and Harry behind in Ohio. Notice the gap in the birth years, Mary born in Kansas in 1882 and not another child on the census until 1887. The how and the why of Ellen Durbin is still a mystery and why they left those two boys behind is also unknown but I think that explains part of it. Also I have found Walter Francis Davis registration card during world war II. Men born after 1877 and before 1897 had to fill out these cards. In 1942 he was living "Rear 714 marion Ave. S.W. Canton, Ohio" He gave the name of Mrs. Louis Meyers as the person who would always know where he could be found. Same address. He was working for Mr. Ivan Wad at the Silver Hawk Night Club. 1008 Belden S.E. in Canton. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am thrilled with the picture, I have never seen that nor one from exactly that time. This is 1912 right? I am going to go back and more carefully read all your emails but for this moment, remind me please. Are the bride and groom your grandparents? This would be Frank Davis? What was the bride's name and do you know the name of the maid of honor? I will work on this later today but I did just have a thought. Since Elizabeth, his mother, was a Blubaugh I will go back and see if I can determine if Ellen Durbin was originally a Blubaugh. There are actually more Blubaughs than Durbins listed in the St. Luke's book. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Charlie Colopy and May Mickley Colopy were my grandparents. My mother was their 4th child, 3rd daughter, Mary Pauline. Both of them, Charles and May were born in Danville...the Mickleys came to Danville around 1880 or so, the Colopys had been there for a very long time. Did you live next door to Aunt Theresa on Portage or when they lived in the little house on the curve? Theresa died just 2 years ago. It has only been a couple of months since we had our first every reunion of Charles and May's descendents. I live near Chicago and have for the last 38 years but I wouldn't have missed it for anything. In the end there were about 60 people, approximately 18 of my 50 or so first cousins. Two of my Aunts are still with us. Betty and Joanne, all the others are gone. I would love to see the picture that you have. Isn't the internet and email wonderful, imagine a connection like this cropping up without this way to communicate. Tell me please what your name is and I will tell my Burger cousins, Judy and Barbara and Tom that you and I have met. Judy lives in Canal Fulton as does Tom. Barbara lives on Manchester Road, it seems like that is North Lawrence. My husband was born and raised in Massillon and he has lots of family in that area too. Have you ever visited Danville? There are lots of Colopys and Mickleys still in Knox County. In fact a visit to the cemetery at St. Luke's is quite the experience. I can feel my ancestors everywhere. I would be very happy to see the picture you have.
