    3. Richard DeLauder's two obit books are excellent, too. One of them covers the same period as Russ Peffers. The 2nd one covers a later period. Richard has a will book, too. Can't remember the cost, but you can contact Carol Montrose if you're interested in purchasing any of them. Definitely a good investment if you'r a serious Knox county researcher.

    2. I'm not Alice, but would appreciate it if you could do a look-up and see if there is a listing for a Maria Durbin, died 19 October 1889. She died in Dresden, Muskingum Co., and is buried St. Mary's, Mattingly Settlement. I know this is a long-shot, but haven't been able so far to find an obituary or record at St. Mary's. Thanks so much. ITemplain@aol.com

Dear Denise, I live in MO. My brick wall is my Gr. Grandpa's parents. He seems to have none. Merriman Boramon Stevenson (M.B.S.) Hall was born 19 Dec. 1819 in Knox County, Ohio. I find him on the 1850 census. He had a wife Mary Ann Ross who died after giving him two living children. He then moved to Iowa where he married my Gr. Grandmother Alcinda Hedges. Have a lot on her but nothing on parents names or if he had brothers or sisters. If you can find an obit or anything listing Merriman Hall as a survivor. Anything would help but without their names it is impossible for us to find. I have written to Knox County, OH and joined their list but they come up with nothing on Hall. If there is anything in your book, I would be glad to buy one if still available. Thank you so much and good luck in your search. It is a job. God Bless you, Barbara Bay Dewing hannah@wavecomputers.net

I am thinking he is the shy type... always hiding..... James GREAR [any spelling will do] he md Ann Margaret THOMAS they lived in Chester county, PA and he died in Knox co., Ohio. I am not sure if his wife was with him... I don't know very much about him, other than he was born in Ireland probably about 1775 *if* he was 25 when he md 1810 in Chester co. PA...Our records say he d in Knox county OH.. I know of one child, Jane GREAR she md 1829 Chester co, PA to Joseph HOLLIS and became my 2nd gr grandparents...... Joseph HOLLIS and Jane GREAR went to Knox county, where they lived for a few years, having more children..then they moved to Porter county, Indiana. There is a question in our family... did Jane GREAR die in Chester county, PA and did Joseph take his 4 children to Knox county where he md2) Jane QUINN and was it Jane QUINN who had the rest of Joseph's children........ or our Jane GREAR? AHHH the wonders of genealogy, it can drive a person to the brink of either delight or depression...... but there is always hope isn't there? Thank you Wilma Fleming Haynes gencon@harborside.com
