    3. I just happened across a copy of page 11 of the Knox County 1860 Census, Jefferson Twp It lists Meshic Simpson age 14 living with John and Sarah Melton, both age 65 and bn in Ohio. Ephraim Miller, single, listed before and Jacob Stout family afterwards. 2 McKee families and then Andrew J. Melton, age 30, Sarah, age 24, and Emma F. age 6 Caroline -----Original Message----- From: RMLM263@aol.com [mailto:RMLM263@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 05, 2000 8:18 AM To: OHKNOX-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Response to self-Samuel Simpson The names here made me catch my breath because so many hours in genealogy are tedious and with no satisfactory answers. This is how they fit into my family history. My GG-Grandfather William H. BLAIR was widowed in 1850 with eight children. He was remarried on 5 Nov 1850 to a widow by the name of Olive SIMPSON; Olive's maiden name was MELTON. Olive and William had five more children. The second youngest they named Calvin Simpson BLAIR. Calvin was my Great-grandfather, born on 18 Mar 1858 in Knox County. Calvin married Sevina DEAKINS and had six children, one daughter being named Olive. Olive died at age 12 in Cleveland and is buried there with her mother in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Cleveland. Sevina died in 1903; Calvin subsequently married her sister Mary. Calvin and Mary returned to Howard Oh and are buried there in the churchyard of the Wesley Chapel, United Methodist Church. Calvin's parents, William and Olive are buried there also, in a plot directly behind them. They are buried in the front, facing the road. I noted while visiting the cemetery that they are surrounded by many members of the SIMPSON family. I took some photos of several and here are the names: Elmer SIMPSON 1884-1902 (The dates on the pics are not clear) Meshic SIMPSON 1845-1916 Martha I SIMPSON 1844-1905 infants son & dau Family names of my relatives in Knox County include BLAIR, DEAKINS, MELTON, BAKER, BUTLER. My Grandmother was Ruth Mae BLAIR, born in 1892 in Howard and died in Cleveland in 1960. She was quite a lady as were the other BLAIR women. Always happy to discuss the family with anyone interested. 2. I doubt we are talking about the same family but for your information I will tell you about my BLAIR. William H. BLAIR was born in 1808 in Cumberland, Allegany, MD, the son of Thomas BLAIR. He traveled to Knox Cy in the 1830s. He had 13 children by two wives -- at different times of course, his second youngest son Calvin Simpson BLAIR was my Great-grandfather. William died in 1898 and is buried in the church cemetery at the Wesleyan Methodist Church with his second wife, Olive Melton Simpson BLAIR. Good luck in your research. Robert M.
