If he's the one I'm researching, he should have a wife named Susan. In 1810 they lived in Gettysburg (Adams) PA.
Yes, guardianship records are kept at the courthouse. Look under Probate records. I have some from the 1840's for my line, which I got from Richland Co. Bev
Are the old guardianship records available at the courthouse for review? If not, are they kept elsewhere? I am looking for records from the 1830s. Any help appreciated. Wolfdm35@prodigy.net

To Lynne in Oklahoma The Check List of American Coverlet Weavers By John W. Heisey does not list a weaver by the name of Adam Uxrus. The spelling of the last name does not show up any where I looked. You say that it is handwoven of a "french-indian" design, that would make one think that it was woven with a Jacquard handloom. The date of 1823 also is a little early for Ohio Jacquard coverlets. Here are some known coverlet weavers in Knox Co.; Adam Yearous (ca 1827) 1850 U S Census lists him in Jackson Twp.Knox Co.; his known dated coverlets are 1847-1867 Jacob Ardner/Artner (ca 1817) , his father Jacob, and brother Michael were all weavers in Mt Vernon, Knox Co. John Graham (ca 1798) 1850 Census weaver in Mt Vernon, Knox Co.; known coverlets 1853-1855 Jacob Long weaving in Knox Co. in 1843 J. Swank. O.H.S. has him weaving in Knox Co. in 1846 John Rezinor, 1850 Census lists him as a weaver in Clinton Twp. Knox Co.: no known coverlets There was a Cyrus Swan , Salt creek Twp. Holmes Co. Ohio 1 coverlet 1848 his first name is as close to your adam's name as I can get at this time. There were some woolen mills in Knox Co. This Adam may have worked in one of them. Clearfield Textile Mill, no known Jacquard coverlets woven there. Also Edward & James Marshall moved there woollen mill from Steubenville, Ohio to Howard Twp. Knox co. Ohio , date unknown, there are group of coverlets with a building in corner block that have been attributed to them by there great granddaughter, Hazel E. Sigler. This comes from the Ohio Historical Society. All of this is not much help when it comes to your Adam Uxrus. There are probably other coverlet weavers in Knox Co. Ohio that will come to light as time goes by. Good Luck Robert Black >Does anyone have any information on an Adam Uxrus? >In the obit of Abel Morningstar son of James Polk Morningstar, son of >Benjamin Morningstar (b. 1814). it reads: > Abe Morningstar has a bedspread or coverlet that is 113 years old (Abe >died in 1949).
