    3. Hi Gene, What you're asking for would be a dream come true for all of us searching for our ancestors - but sadly family members weren't listed on the census records until 1850 and birth records weren't kept until after 1867 in Knox Co. If someone can check the 1820 census for you - you will get the head of household and simply how many males and females of various age groups. Checking land records might help you for this early family. The only marriage listing I have for the Wogan surname is: Isaac Wogan m. Mary Harris d/o Abram __ Sep 1823 by John Davis, elder > > Surname: Wogan > ------------------------- > > Anyone having an 1820 Knox Co. census, Iwould like to know > the names of Daniel and Betsy Feagle Wogan's children, Either by census > or birth notices. 3. Steve, Some of the dates and info of Florence Herietta Workman's kids are different that in the Workman Book. Also some information there on the Whistlers. Here is the entry: "James Workman married (2) 5 April 1875 to AMANDA WHISTLER (born 20 Jan 1852 in Pike Twp., Knox, Ohio; died 4 Jan 1909 in Brown Twp., Knox, Ohio; dau of Samuel Whistler and Heneretta Goodman) and had children born in Brown Twp., Knox, Ohio: FLORENCE HENRIETTA WORKMAN born 17 March 1876; married 23 May 1897 in Union Two., Knox, Ohio to JOHN JACOB NYHART (born 23 May 1876 in Brown Twp., Ohio; son of Noah Nyhart and Ella Hall) and had children in Brown Twp., Ohio: Edythe Permelia Nyhart born 10 Dec 1898, married 25 Dec 1916 to Edward Shult; Howard Elden Nyhart born 28 March 1900, married in 1924 to Mabel Keller; Dorothy Ellen Nyhart born 25 July 1905, married 4 June 1926 to Donal Lamont Severn." Steve, 1-- there is no entry for the other child for Florence and John that you, ie a Nyhart, a son EDWARD. 2--You had no Howard Eldon Nyhart as a son 3--birth dates are subtlely different Finally, the entry in the book on James Workman, Florence's father, is very long, and first, wife, etc. and carries on to more generations, (but not for Florence). Notes for Solomon Nance Connor Workman: Courtesy Myron Hinrichs: In continuing with excerpts from the "Workman Family History," 1962, Thelma C Anderson, there are many entries about this church, called by various names, North Bend Church, German Baptist Church, and Church of the Brethern. Was not there some anniversary of the church on this site recently? The Founding of the Church involves Solomon Nance Conner Workman whose father, Joseph C Workman, is my GGGGUncle. Solomon was born in Alleghany Co, Maryland, in 1807 and died in 1888 in Brown Twp, Knox Co, in 1888. From the Book: "The Workmans came to Ohio when the country was thinly settled and wild Indians were still creating a problem. As a young boy Solomon N. C. Workman watched a block house being erected on his father's farm to protect the inhabitants of the community---------Eventually he secured title to 300 acres of land in Brown Twp and moved into Jelloway Valley in 1837 and concentrated on improving the land. In politics he was a Democrat, in religion a German Baptist. He was elected by his church to be the preacher but out of a lack charity for his own little faults he declined, saying, ""I believe a minister should teach by example as well as words.""-----------In May 1868 the original home burned wiht loss of practically all the goods. During the same year, Solomon built the home which still stands. In 1870 Solomon N. C. Workman gave a piece of ground on the northwest corner of his farm, about 6 miles north of Danville, for the erection of the North Bend Church and cemetary. This church has been the center of the activities of the Workman family in Knox Co for many generations." end of excerpt Myron Hinrichs 2 ii. I was reminded of this recently on a visit to Utah, where my daughter and I went out to visit Beth Atkin, and husband Willard. She is more meaningfully known to us as Edna Beth Workman, from the family that wrote and published "The Workman Family," Sitting at her table, eating lunch, the idea, that here she is, my mom's (Belle Workman) 7th cousin, her kids, my 8th cousins, and her grandkids, my daughter's 9th cousins, and all from two Dutch-English boys in New Amsterdam, brothers, who grew up helping their father, Derick Woertman (Workman) run the Brooklyn ferry--well, the sands of time seemed very small just then. One tid bit you might find interesting. Her father, Meltiar Workman, was the one who raised the money to get the book finally published in 1962. Here he was, 70 some years old, mortgaged his property to finish this family venture, and ended up paying off the bill with Social Security income checks. When I think of that, and what it means to all of us today, to have so many names, so many facts about Knox county history, and personnally, for my family, to have an ancestral line so recorded, it leaves me speechless with thanks. 3. Maggie, Genealogy goes through the sands of time, and connects, and makes the world smaller.
