    3. Hi, Military pension files can be very informative. You should send for Joseph Blair's War of 1812 pension file. Even if he didn't get a pension because his application was rejected - the govt will send you the rejected file - which can provide more clues. Use the same NATF 80 form that is used for Civil War Pension Files. The Revolutionarey War pension files are on microfilm - have you tried to see if any Blair man was receiving a pension from Knox County, Ohio? There are index books available to look up surnames of pensioners and where they were living when claiming the pension and at the time of death. This would help you find Joseph's father's name. If such a person claimed a pension and was living in Knox County, Ohio you could then order the micro-film from your local Family History Center to read his pension file (and get a photo-copy for your files). Hope this helps - Denise Crawford > Surname: Blair > Joserph Blair of Liberty Twp of Knox Co. married Rebecca Bennington. 2. Hi, I am new to this list so I thought I would post the family names I am looking for. In and around the Danville area; Colopy ( especially any information about a aunt...Helen Colopy who died in a fire in 1939, I am assuming she is buried at St. Lukes), Mickley, McMahn (my great grandmother was Margaret McMahn and I am stuck at that point.) 1. Visit to Mt. Vernon and the surrounding area
    2. Marla F. Fair
    3. To everyone who sent me suggestions, I am back from my brief trip to the Mt. Vernon area and wanted to say thanks for the information. I managed to make it to the courthouse, the records office and the libarary. Stayed in each briefly, just getting a feel for it, and the went to Bladensburg cemetery as well as driving through Bladensburg and Martinsburg where my Dad's Dad lived for some time. I found the stones of many of my relatives in Bladensburg cemetery, nothing really new to report, but I enjoyed getting to know the area. I think my family only lived there briefly and I will have to look out of state to trace them much further. I then went to downtown Mt. vernon and just enjoyed the city. I will be back, so it was nice to just have some time to get a feel for it and learn where to go. Thanks again! Marla Fair in Troy Ohio

    3. Denise, I'm going to Mt. Vernon for a few hours this summer (July 25) to the cemetery and library. Quite possibly the courthouse too. Is there anything I can get for you while I'm there? I want to check the courthouse to see what they did regarding the reconstruction of last year in the room where the records were kept. I really hope they didn't destroy that fine masterpiece in the name of progress. 3. Hello one and all, I am going to have a period of three to four hours free to spend in Mt. Vernon on Thursday. I wll be coming through on my way to Cleveland. Is there anything or anywhere that you would recommend I see or do while I am there? My Dad's family lived in Martinsburg and Bladensburg, and then he lived with his Grandmother in Mt. Vernon and Howard. Would I be wise to spend the time checking out the four towns or checking into records at the courthouse or library? Or a local cemetery? 1. Workman Book
    2. MYRON J HINRICHS
    3. Maggie, Just a note of interest, as several people have emailed me about the book. The book, the "Workman Family History," Thelma C Anderson, 1962, is no longer available for sale by the relatives and descendents of those who published it. There are no more copies. This information was told to me by Beth Atkin, nee Edna Beth Workman in April of this year. Basically, they printed a base run in 1962, and always had copies with no one interested for years. The seven siblings, children of Meltiar Workman, he who raised the money to print the book, each inherited an equal number of copies when Meltiar died. Beth Atkin was one of those children. They have been selling them by word of mouth, out of their houses, and Beth's supply was gone that month, and she said all of her siblings were also out of supply. My thoughts are hard to express. There are very few genealogy books like it, and my family is fortunate to be in it. Myron
