    3. Sue, Knox Co., OH was formed from Fairfield County in 1808. The Knox County Recorder has land records and should be able to help you. Ask that they please search the deed indexes (grantee and grantor) for any land transactions for Michael Shinabery/Shinaberg. Good luck.

    2. Have seen posting of Echo Ralston re: birth lookups for Knox County back to 1867. Would someone please advise if there are any such books or information on births prior to 1867? I would very much like to verify a mother's maiden name on a 1833 birth. Thank you for any reply. Loretta

    2. Alice, I imagine this is a stretch but I have some Daugherty ancestors who I first pick up in Hardin Co., KY: Descendants of Alexander C. Daugherty 1 Daugherty, Alexander C. b: 7/09/1855 in Hardin Co., KY d: 12/24/1922 in Arthur, Douglas Co., IL . +Thomas, Sarah E. b: Abt. 1863 d: 1930 in Arthur, Douglas Co., IL Father: Husband Thomas 2 Daugherty, Maud Lulu b: 7/17/1886 d: 4/21/1906 in Champaign, Champaign Co., IL .... +Bolton, Alva Odis b: 2/23/1877 in Bowling Green, Clay Co., IN/Clay Co., IN m: Abt. 1900 in Charleston, Coles Co., IL d: 5/31/1954 in Champaign, Champaign Co., IL Father: James Bolton Mother: Elizabeth Jane Marriott 2 Daugherty, Ruby b: 7/16/1905 in West Salem, IL d: 4/20/1973 in Arthur, IL .... +Thomas, Harve m: 8/12/1934 in Murdock, IL d: 1969 The Alva Bolton noted above, his father (James Bolton) was in Clay Twp., Knox Co., OH by the 1850 census and he was married to an Elizabeth Marriott from Licking Co., OH. James was the son of a Lewis Bolton who apparently migrated from Germany, settling first in VA before moving on to Knox Co. I've never been able to turn up a possible place in VA where they initially settled. Like I said, this may all be a stretch to connect but thought maybe that's how the Daugherty's ended up in IN, having moved from OH with the Bolton line. Let me know you thoughts. Susan

    3. reply to John Buckingham...........John your reply may be very useful to me. My ggGrandfather Benjamin moved to Hardin County about 1833. (Son of James and Elizabeth Rightmire) Long after Benjamins death a short biography was published and the information that his family was from Morgan County Ohio has been suspected as being in error for some time. Especially since census reports say James, Elizabeth and there two oldest children were born in Virginia. Someone must have made an error somewhere in the biography. I already know that there was a Rightmire family in the Morgantown area in that time period. (also in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania) so your reply may have narrowed my search for me. Can I ask what name you are researching from that area.....Alice

    3. To find the church group, you might want to see who married the kids after the move...unless Jp's married them. Several of mine (SWAILES/SWALES, VIAN, & PERKINS) were in Knox Co. prior to 1820 but as far as I can ascertain, came from Maryland. (My GRUBBS came later from Stark Co.) and some of the siblings of my line came from Pa: or by way of Pa: LYBARGERS & CASTEELS. James Jr who married Lydia Crichfeild, Harrison who married Amy Crichfeild, John who married Anna (Hannah) Crichfeild, William who married Lucinda Welker, Sarah who married Moses Thompsen, Mahalia who married John Trott, Jane who married David Harrod, Elizabeth who married John Madden. I know that James and Elizabeth came to Knox County from Virginia. They were probably married in Monongala County in 1802. What location in Virginia did they come from.?? Was there a church group that made the move ? Any suggestions welcome.... Alice > > ______________________________

    3. Unless they were under-age the parents names weren't recorded on the application until Vol 6 which we just published. It is 1899-1903.
