I am looking for the parents of Rachel Majors born in OH in 1834 and Thomas Bailey born in IN in 1841. In the 1850 census there was a William Majors and a Thomas Bailey--does anyone have any info on either of these families? Anything on these surnames for anytime in the 1800's would be appreciated. I think both families moved to Dearborn IN by 1860 on on to IL by 1870 to Champaign or Vermilon Co IL. OR does anyone know anyone with an 1850 census who does look ups? I have not been able to find this census on the internet anywhere and don't have a library with one where I live. V shaw

I am researching the following surnames in Knox County: Cheuvront, Chapin, Rouse, Shotdell, McCuen, Lutz, Jones, Lawless, and Bieler (Beiler,Biler,Beeler). They lived in the county from 1850 until about 1860. Most of these families moved on to Mt. Plesant and Marion, Iowa; Missouri; and finally Cass County, Nebraska.
To Cheryl: If you need additional information on Normanda Ellen DeWitt or have additional information please contact me .She was my great grandmother and married Charles Empson Nicholson.

Posted on: Knox Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Knox/399 Surname: SHULTZ ------------------------- According to my gg grandfather's Civil War papers, George Shultz was born 10 Feb 1830 in Knox Co. OH. He married Elizabeth Reinbolt in 1850 in Seneca Co. Need information on parents & siblings. Willing to share data on his children, etc.
Cherly, Normanda is in the Workman book, and her mom and dad and family take one whole page, plus you can follow her mother's family back to Holland. There is too much to type, if you email me, I can copy a bunch of pages if you give some direction on how much you want. Briefly, Sarah Ann Workman is her mother and Solomon N C Workman is her grandfather on that side, while Benjamin Wells Dewitt is her father, they had 13 kids, Normanda being the oldest. Benjamin's parents are listed also. Normanda was a name used often by Workmans for their daughters. There is this interesting paragraph at the end of her parent's writeup: "Benjamin W. Dewitt graduated from Madison College, Guernsey County, Ohio, when 19 years of age. He taught school for 21 quarters and also taught vocal music. All of his children learned music and were gifted and congenial. The home of Benjamin and Sarah Dewitt became the social center of the country and many evinings they and their family spent entertaining and enjoying the society of their neighbors. Benjamin and Sarah were members of the German Baptist church." from "Workman Family History," 1962, Thelma C Anderson. Solomon N C Workman is my 5x Great Grandfather's first cousin. Myron
