    2. Steve Spicer
    3. Hi all, Next month I plan to be in Central Ohio and would love to find the gravesite of my GGG Grandmother, Hannah Butler Thurston, who is supposidly buried in Centerburg. Her husband Peter is buried in Granville in Licking county and his gravesite is documented - on a web page to boot. I have no idea where Hannah might be buried, but according to http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohknox/twpcem.htm I would head for the Robbins-Thurston cemetery, if I knew where it was. It doesn't show up on a GNIS search and although my mapping software shows several cemeteries in and around Centerburg, none of them are named. If anyone could help me find this gravesite - or the cemetery, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks, Steve Steve Spicer sspicer@crown.net Main Index: http://www.crown.net/~sspicer/index.html Miller Beach Pages: http://www.millerbeach.com

    2. Alice Beyke
    3. Want to Thank those of you that have helped me again. If anyone is searching the Madden or Simpkins family and can't find them after about 1851 they may have gone to California. After help from this list I traced the John and Elizabeth "Rightmire" Madden family to Solano County California. Charles Simpkins probably was a partner to John Madden at least for a time. When I first found this family in California I had visions of them embarking on a trip across the great plains in a covered wagon, but have found that they went by ship (Port unknown) crossed the Isthmus (Now Panama) on foot and then on by ship probably to San Francisco. There destination was the gold mines, but apparently this venture didn't last two long and they went on to other enterprizes. Alice

    1. Martin Engle/Elias Engle Howard, Ohio
    2. Ron Hemmer
    3. Hi All, Has anyone run into these two characters. Martin was born around 1767 and I think he was in the 1810 Maryland Census (Allegheny County). In 1820 and 1830 he showed up in Knox County, Ohio. He died in 1836. He lived very close to Elias Engle (near Howard, Ohio) who supposedly was from PA. He also was a brewer (of spirits?). I believe they must be related (father-son, uncle-nephew?) although I have not as yet been able to make a connection to PA. The family lore says Germany near the Dutch border.(?) The names show up a bit in other families so I don't know if there was a family connection or the names were just popular at the time. Elias married and had children. Some related families who married Engle children were Porter and Elwell. Elias had a son named Elias (who married a woman named Ruth). My descent is from Joseph Engle who became Catholic and married into the Durbin/Mattingly/Logsdon line. Can anyone out there connect my Engles to their family? Glad to hear from anyone. Thanks and Best Wishes to All, Ron Hemmer Phoenix P.S. I'm cross posting this on Engle list.

    3. Many of you have the family of Samuel Lilley and Sarah Workman in your dBs. I want to ask about child number 7: Mayinet. A friend looked up the Lilley family in 1880 in Knox Co. There she found, Mayinet or Mayemet. But she is listed as a he, a son. I have been looking for quite awhile for a M.E. Lilley born 1868 who married first, Sarah Wolfe and second Daisy Majors. Sarah is buried at Brinkhaven, M.E. and Daisy are buried in Workman cemetery. In the 1900 soundex, He is Mack E. Lilley and living with his wife Daisy, daughter Lula and son Charles E. Lilley. My friend says it appears on the 1880 census that the census taker had a diffcult time spelling M.E.'s name. I have had other more indirect indications that his first name was actually Maude!!! Could anyone shed some light on this? I have suspected that this Mayinet/Mayemet was actually a male. What is more important is that the birthdates match. Steve von Hitritz in Richmond, VA
