Hill's 1881 "History of Knox County Ohio" mentions a Jesse Riser on p553 in the section on Union Township. The paragraph is about Danville and tells abt the founding of the town and the businesses that were located there when the book was written (abt 1881). It says: " ...one cooper shop by Jesse Riser, etc." Kathleen Rizer wrote: > Posted on: Knox Co. Posted on: Knox Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Knox/454 Surname: ------------------------- I looked in Knox Co, Ohio Wills and found the will of Abram Lhamon dated 31 July 1850 Box 18-File 469 Bk.C pg.49. (Pleasant Twp) dau Barbary Armentrout heirs, Isabella, Abner, Alden, Ferdinand, Dorcas & William & heirs of Arabella heirs of Barbary my children: William & Abram Lhamon, Catharine Stinemetz, Mary Graham & Elizabeth Looker. This may not be your family as their is no George named unless he went by a middlename? You might try land records as sometimes a relationship is stated when land is sold to a child or when it is distributed to the heirs after a death.

FREDRICK, who was b. in the 1840's in New Jersey. We believe his father was Thomas P. Fredrick, mother Julia Connet. They settled in Mt. Vernon, Knox County Ohio, probably in the 1850's. We've seen the name spelled as "Frederick," but we're told that the proper spelling was "Fredrick." James H. Fredrick was m. to Mary "Ella" HORNER abt. 1863, they had 3 daughters all born in Mt. Vernon, Knox County, Ohio. They were: (1) Olive Stewart Fredrick, b. 1865, married to Lorin Bricker. (2) Laura Fredrick b. 1866 m. to ? Cramer; and (3) Cornelia "Kiel" Fredrick b. 1869, m. to George F. Weidner. We'll appreciate any information about this line. Thanks -- Joan whatever@e3mil.com

I am looking for any information anyone might have regarding the Brining family in Mt. Vernon, OH. As near as I can figure, they settled there (from England) somewhere quite near 1890. John L and his wife Eliza, their son William and daughter Jane (my gggrandma) made up the original family. After they settled in Mt. Vernon, they had six more children: Anne, Edwin, Elsie, Helen, James and Charlot (Lottie). I have found death records for all three sons showing they died in Mt. Vernon. My gggrandmother, Jane, married Nelson Nugent (either in OH or MI - he was born in MI) and they had three children: John R., Hazel M. (my ggrandmother) and Margaret. John still lives in Mt. Vernon and I hope to contact him soon. Hazel's daughter, Maxine (my grandmother), gave birth to my mother, Barbara. Maxine told my mother that the Brinings were a well-known family in the area and that he was a tobacconist and his store stocked all of the newspapers from around the world and many other imported items. I was told that the store was in the family (either Brining or Nugent) for around 100 years. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. I would appreciate any information (no matter how trivial) anyone can give me, since I cannot find much of anything online regarding the family. Thank you so much! Leah R. Not yet, as I said I am stuck down here for the next 14 mos. I didn't realize the family was Catholic...... This is a first! I understand that Caleb McKenzie Sr. is buried in a Catholic Cemetery in Knox Co. I need to prove that his son, Caleb Jr. and Martha "Jane" Workman are the parents of Workman McKenzie. FFO Chair will not except my Workman History; my obits; my census reports from 1860, my death certificates(because only the mother's name is there). She claims that, just because he is listed in the household does not mean that he is a child of theirs, as relationships were not mentioned in that census! I have obits of his siblings, mentioning that he is the brother of......., but that is not considered proof by her. In addition, the History of the Workman Family is not valid, as it was written in the 20th Century! I am very frustrated being stuck in a place that is not too conducive to the furtherance of my family history, at least for the next 14 months!!!!!!!!!! Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated! I have researched in Knox Co. several times, but did not realize this was a Catholic family prior to Caleb Jr. He and Martha Jane are buried in Danville, Workman Cemetery. Thanks, Sandy Ken & Sandy Parrish n3kpn8crd@earthlink.net
