I am a direct descendant of a Drusilla Stump, who was married to Michael Yoakam. Michael died in Mt. Vernon, Knox Co. OH.in 1825. Drusilla died in Jackson Twp.,Allen Co. OH in 1848. She was born, however, in 1760. Could this Drusilla Yoakam be your Drusilla Yoakam? If so, she would have been 82 when they married? The only children I have so far for Drusilla and Michael are Mary Elizabeth and Maryann. Could your Drusilla be a daughter of Drusilla and Michael? Please let me know what information you have, since the names and places match. 1. Frost Family
    2. Friends: The Frost family is one of my lines and I have researched it very thoroughly. Please write me and I shall help anyone who needs the Frost name. I do not have too much about those who went to Knox County since Elizabeth b. 30 Mar 1774 was married in to Peter Snedeker, 9 May 1793. Her father, Josiah Frost, b. 29 Jul 1790 in Frostburg Maryland, s/o Josiah Frost and Elizabeth Parnell/Parcell. There is some confusion as to his marriage - one genealogist has it that they were two different Elizabeth's and two marriages. If you are interested contact me at: genealady@aol.com My name is Mary Jane Armstrong Henney - the Armstrong family was from Knox and Belmont Counties in Ohio.

    2. << This will not help with the land purchases, but have you read the 3 references to a Josiah Frost in "Western Maryland Catholics 1819-1851"? Rosanne >> I have not seen that publication -- however, I know that the Frosts I am related to were Methodist -- a Rev. Shaw presided at the marriages of several of them and also witnessed the will of Josiah Frost, Sr. I would be interested in what the references in the book on Maryland Catholics has to say. And thanks to everyone for your help on the land issue. I suspected that Josiah was not a veteran, since I doubted he went to NY or MA to join the army. Charnee Smit

    1. Re: Martinsburg Presby Cemetery
    2. Collyn, There is a book "Cemetery Records of Knox County, Ohio." Must be more than one volume, because the copied pages that I have says volume one. Unfortunately, I do not have the names that you are looking for. I checked, just in case, but no luck. I am sure you can find this book at the Mount Vernon Library, or if in Salt Lake City, at the HL, which is where I originally made my copies. Quite possibly your local FHC can do an interlibrary loan for you in order to have access to use it. A number of my husband's relatives were buried there. We are planning a trip to Ohio for the holidays, and if you are still in need of some information, maybe I can help you then. Let me know if you do. According to the index in the book, Martinsburg Presbyterian is listed on pages 74-100. Good luck, I am sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Pat in Florida

    1. FROST Land Purchases
    2. I am new to this list and wonder if anyone can give me some ideas about where to look for more info about how my ggg grandfather Josiah Frost b. in 1790 in Allegany Co. MD qualified for the purchase of about 8 plots of land from the Military survey lands. He bought them in 1829 - 1839 period, and I have downloaded the images of the deeds. I thought he might have been in the War of 1812 but when I look at the rosters, I find only Josiah Frosts from NY and MA. He was still living in MD in 1812. Does anyone have any ideas where to look -- e.g. were there other wars he might have been in between 1812 and 1829? Could he have somehow purchased the right to these lands from a veteran? One of my research constraints is that I live in CA so I can't go to the source in Ohio or Maryland. Thanks, Charnee Smit
