    3. Joan, I haven't researched the Ross family much but do have some. My Gr. Grandfather Merriman Boramon Stevenson (M.B.S.) Hall was born in Knox County, Ohio Dec. 27, 1819. He married Mary Ann Ross in 1843 in Knox County, Ohio. Mary Ann died after giving him several children, two of which survived, one was my Grandfather T.R. Halls 1/2 brother Joseph Hall who ultimately settled in Rose Hill, KS after a try in Okla Territory I.T. in 1891. He returned to Rose Hill but was in Florida for a while. I have quite a bit on that family if that is of interest. There was a daughter to that first marriage, believe without checking her name was Melissa. She ended up in Okla. and married and lived in Stroud, OK. Have names of Mary Ann's parents and other if this well help. Good Luck and God Bless you. I have never found parents for M.B.S. Hall. Her maiden name was either BOYLES or MERRITT - according to conflicting LDS files. I have no surety that either of these folks married in Knox Co but were there by 1832. Their son, Albert BELL, was supposedly born in Knox Co. 30 Oct 1832 and, by LDS files, married Arabecca CRUMRINE 3 Apr 1851 in Knox Co. They later moved to KS and NE. Their daughter, Angelina BELL, married Urban NORRIS in KS 1882. She was allegedly born in Tamora, NE. Since my source so far is LDS files, I cannot confirm the data - need help in proving this family record. Thanks, Dave Norris in VA

My name is Joan Eyre and I am researching ROSS. At this time I am following a lead to Knox County, Ohio that may or may not be the right path, but I need more information before I abandon it. I have an Edward ROSS, son of Hugh ROSS. Hugh was admitted to the PA Bar in 1801. After that he moved a few place, ultimately settling in Milford, Pike County, PA, where he married Catharine BIDDIS. Hugh and Catharine had 2 children, Edward and Louisa. I don't have the dates of their births, but interperate from the book that gave the above information (John Ross and the Ross Family) that they were born after 1801. Edward graduated from West Point. He was a professor of mathematics at Kenyon College. He was twice married, but I have no names. The marriages resulted in several children, again no names or dates. He died at the Free Academy, New York City (no date) The book also states that "His descendants are numerous in Ohio) My grandfather was Thomas ROSS. He was from a family that migrated from Ohio to Iowa. So I am trying to determine if I can make a connection from Edward ROSS and my grandfather. If anyone has any information, I thank you in advance. Joan

    3. How can I get this information on an ancestor of mine? I have been unsuccessful in finding death or guardian information. Nathaniel Hornbeck/Hornback/Hoornbeck (or variations) died around 1849 in Knox Co. He left several children including my ggg-grandmother, Eliza R. "Rodelphia" Hornbeck. His wife quickly remarried and his children were sent off to various families. My Rodelphia was enumerated in the 1850 Delaware Co. census with the family of Jacob Morgan. Are lookups available in this volume: "Knox Co. Oh. Will Abstracts 1808-1877 Vol 1" by DeLauder? I would appreciate it greatly. 3. To obtain a death record for someone who died in 1913, try this site for the index: http://www.ohiohistory/dindex The death records show the cemetery. Instead of sending to OHS for the record, you might check to see if I am planning a visit there and could get the record for you. Sure a lot faster than OHS... 3. Most county vital records (birth & death) start in 1867...with a few exceptions in the 1850's...Morrow, Highland, Meigs Co's. There is a will for a Harriett Frost in 1858 listed in "Knox Co. Oh.
