Buckeye City is now Danville -- Danville was on one side of the tracks and Buckeye City the other, but I don't remember which one was where. In the message I sent yesterday on Henry/Phenes Frazier (Frazer) I mentioned a Henry and Mary Fraysure (Frasher) living in Jelloway, Knox County, Ohio. I failed to mention that this Knox Co. Henry and Mary were to young to be Phenes' parents, however, he could possibly be a brother or cousin. We've been unable to make a connection. Any and all help with finding information on these people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Shirley
I will be traveling through Ohio in a couple of weeks, and would like to see the Butler Baptist Chapel-Riley Cemetery. Could anyone tell me what condition it is in and also if you can get to it? My gr-gr-grandfather, Benjamin Morningstar is buried there. Thanks. Lynne in Oklahoma
My family members have been hitting the same "brick wall" for many years. We have been trying to figure who the parents and/or siblings of Phenes Frazer was. Phenes (Phineas, Phinneas, Finias, etc.) Frazer (Frazier, Fraysure, Fraser, Frasher, etc.) was born February, 1827 in Linton Township in Coshocton County, Ohio. On Oct. 24, 1852 in Knox County, Ohio he married Mary Jane Buxton (b. April, 1831 in Coshocton County and was known as "Jane" by at least some Buxton family members). Seven children were born to this union (all born in Knox County, except the 3rd child): Elizabeth Marie (b. 1854); William Madison (b. 1856); Hatty L. (b. 1861 in Delaware, Delaware Co., Ohio); Ella Dora (b. 1864); Hettie Melissa (b. 1868); Charles Wesley (b. 1871 -- my grandfather); and Elmer Stewart (b. 1874). In the 1860 census they were living in Delaware, Delaware Co., Ohio with their 3 oldest children and the following people by the name of Furgerson: George, Sarah, James, Margaret, and ! Lucy. None of our family has heard of any of these people or their connection to Phenes and Mary Jane. Phenes inherited land in Union County from Solomon Courtright, which Phenes sold shortly after inheriting it. He, Mary Jane and their children then moved back to Knox County, Ohio where land was purchased (in Mary Jane's name) in Milford Township. They later moved to Morrow County in the vicinity of Sparta. Phenes died Sept. 2, 1892 in Morrow County. Mary Jane (known by then as "Mother Frazier" to the local people) died Aug. 9, 1905. They are both buried at Hedding Chapel cemetery in Morrow County. Various family members feel that Phenes' father was possibly named William or Charles (both owned land in Linton Township, Coshocton Co., Ohio). However, my brother has decided that possibly Phenes' father's name was Henry, providing the following information: We know Henry came to Coshocton County around 1816 We know Henry was in the Coshocton County census 1820 and 1830 We know Henry had a son born between 1825-1827 We know Henry lived in Linton Township We know Phenes was born in Linton Township We know Henry Frazier sold his property in 1834 We know his wife's name was Mary. There was a Henry Frazer (Frasher, Fraysure, etc.) who lived in Jelloway, Knox County, Ohio. He had a wife named Mary. If anyone has any information on any of these people I've listed or any idea of how to possibly connect them, please e-mail me. We have the descendents of Phenes and Mary Jane Frazier. We also have the ancestors of Mary Jane Buxton Frazier. Thanks! Shirley

Surnames: Brightwell, Smail, Mohler Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GWB.2ACE/1331 Message Board Post: I am looking for the burial place of the above mentioned person. She lived in and around Killbuck and Danville all her adult life. Her first husband Levi Brightwell died in 1884 leaving her with eight children. She is the daughter of Jacob and Sarah Grim Smail and was born in 1839 in Columbiana County Ohio. The Smails then moved to Holmes Cty., After her husband died, she lived on land owned by her father in Stillwater, and her sons farmed it. She worked as a domestic for Jonathan House. Levi Brightwell is buried in the Barnes Cemetery in Holmes County but the Catherine Brightwell buried there is most likely a sister or cousin of Levi's, it is not his wife. We heard she remarried a man with the last name of Mohler. I found a Catherine Mohler aged 71 in the 1910 Census for Danville Village, Under Item # 154163. She is listed as boarder/ Sevant. I have been unable to find where she is buried. She supposely lived with her daughter during her last years in Brinkhaven, I sear! ched the Brinkhaven Cemetery but did not find her. There is a broken stone behind the Jonathan House Stone, she may be there since she worked for many years for the House Family. Her daughter Delilah Brightwell Ringler is buried in front of this stone. I would like to remark the grave if I can find it. Any and all information will be appreciated. Thank You , Julia Pietruszewski [email protected]

My ancestor, Adonijah Reed, was in the census of 1820 in Knox County, Wayne Township, Ohio, age 26, with 5 other members of his household-total of 6. Believe one was his wife and one was a daughter. Others could have been in-laws. Ages did not work out for being his siblings or parents. In the census of 1830, he was in Richland County, Madison Township, Ohio, all by himself. There are lots of possibilities, but is there any info of an epidemic or catastrophe happening in Knox County in the 1820's? Are there death or marriage records there that go back that far? Of course there is always the possibility he just LEFT, but doubt that he did that. He remarried in 1832 in Delaware County, Ohio, and remained in that family situation for the rest of his life. Thoughts or suggestions? Doris Reed Forsyth
