    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Mattox Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GWB.2ACE/193.1.1 Message Board Post: I wish I had the answers. There are pieces of the puzzle in Logan County, OH but I haven't unraveled it. Thomas Mattocks married Nancy Tabor in 1833 in Knox County, OH.. There was also a Nancy Mattox who married a William Tuttle in 1833 in Knox County, OH. Could they have been brother and sister? Land records track Thomas from Knox to Logan County where he deeded land to his son, Samuel. There were also Peter(whose records confirm him to be from PA), Henry, Joseph and Jacob Mattox. These would be same generation as Samuel; but I don't find any land records from Thomas to them. There is a Susan Ross that he transferred land to. We know that Thomas was in Muskingum Co. in 1827; in Knox Co. in 1833; in Logan Co. by 1838. Then the 1850 Franklin Co. census states that he was from PA. Abstract from his will (signed June 7, 1852 - proven August 30, 1854) mention his wife, Nancy Mattix; heirs: Nancy, Hety, Sally, Diana--and daughter Abigail. I have an e-mail stating that a Sussanah Mattox married Reese G. Ross in 1830 in Knox Co. in 1830, then moved that same year to Logan County. Her parents were said to be Robert Mattox and Elizabeth Coffey. 1850 census had a John Mattox (age 64) living with them. This e-mail information was from someone tying Joseph Mattox into the same family. Does any of this information sound familiar to you? Would love to find a solution -- this is the family I care the most about and have the least information on! Would appreciate any information you can share.

Surnames: Fleming, McClintock, Culbertson, McFate, Lytle Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GWB.2ACE/1357 Message Board Post: Here are two web sites pertaining mainly to families of western Pennsylvania. Both are recently updated from my 1999 book: Clifford, H. F.: The Oil Creek Flemings of Venango County, Pennsylvania, with related families. One web site <http://www.fleming.oilcreekgenealogy.net/> deals with the surname Fleming, starting with John and Sarah (Reed) Fleming of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and follows the descendants of their six sons (Andrew, Daniel, Samuel, James, Edward and Ezekiel) through several generations. Many of the Fleming sons’ descendants were located in Oil Creek Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. A related family, the Lytles, lived in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. The web site includes a section on “Oil and our Oil Creek ancestors.” The other web site <http://www.mcclint.oilcreekgenealogy.net/> deals with the related families McClintocks and Culbertsons, starting with the known founders in eastern Pennsylvania, Francis McClintock and Patrick Culbertson. Many of their descendants located in Venango and Crawford Counties, Pennsylvania, especially descendants of brothers Hamilton and Francis McClintock of Cornplanter Township, Venango County, and Robert and Jane (Culbertson) McFate of Venango and Crawford Counties, Pennsylvania.

    3. I have a person who died between 1820-1829. I thought perhaps since his widow remarried, that maybe the land would have been sold or the title changed to one of the sons. This may have been mentioned as the estate or some such thing for the deceased-who I am trying to pipoint a death date on. Benjamin SHAFER died between 1820-22 October 1829 when his wife remarried. Is there anyone who is knowledgeable in Knox county land records or goings on in the case of a husband's death? Thank you, pam Pam Wyoming, MI
