    3. Hello All, For those of you who live in the area, another historic walk is planned - located in Eldersville, Washington Co., PA; approximately a 20 minutes drive from Steubenville. Eldersville was a community often included in the early Steubenville newspapers as many Jeffersonians had relatives there. You might call it a suburb of Steubenville. I'll include the news release here for your convenience, and it is also posted on the Jefferson County Chapter, OGS web page under "Calendar" for any future interest. "APRIL 17, 1999 - The annual walk to Kidd's Mill, Washington Co., PA is set for Saturday, April 17th, beginning at Noon. Meet at Heritage Hall, Eldersville, PA where the doors will open at 10 a.m. Food by the Jefferson Township Historical Society will be available throughout the day. Robert Irwin will narrate the history along the walk. He and his son and grandson will conduct a brief service at the site of Pine Grove Presybterian Church. June Campbell Grossman will relate the history of the church that has been gone for over a century. Carl Patsche will elaborate on the wild flowers, trees and plants along the way. Due to poor condition of the last section of the road, it is possible that no wagon or other vehicle will be able to transport walkers. It will be necessary also to wade the creek in at least two areas. Therefore, appropriate clothing and footwear should be considered. Those attending are welcome to bring old pictures, maps, deeds, cameras, tape recorders, and lap-top computers. Visiting and conversation will also be the order of the day. For further info call - 724-947-3229 or 724-947-3983." This is a highly recommended tour! And the sisters, Kathryn Campbell Slasor and June Campbell Slasor always present an indepth study on the early pioneers of the area. A Happy Easter to All, JEFFERSON COUNTY CHAPTER, OGS http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohjefogs Julia A. Krutilla fkrutill@weir.net
