There's a lot of fascinating and helpful information circulated through the listservs, but also a lot of messages which would be better sent to a private individual rather than to all of us. I'm thinking of "thank you" notes, etc. which are really directed to just one person. I'm suggesting that all of us include our own e-mail address on each message so that, when appropriate, another individual can send the reply directly to the interested party rather than to everybody. That means that sometimes, instead of routinely hitting the "reply" button, we should type in the specific name of the person who wrote the note. Messages which are of general interest should, of course, still be sent to the entire list. This is not said to discourage anybody, but when you get as much mail as I do it can get to be overwhelming. I really do appreciate the generosity of listserv members, and I hope my suggestion will help to reduce the load for all of us. Happy Easter, everybody! David C. McClain dmcclain@bbc.edu
