Hello all, I'm wondering whether any of you have information on the following couple, who lived in Mannington, Marion, West Virginia before settling in Steubenville, Jefferson, Ohio. I am searching for the following information: 1. The names of Thomas' parents. His death certificate was no help there. 2. The town of origin of Thomas or Sibina. 3. A church marriage record (in Mannington, Marion, West Virginia) of the couple. (Their county marriage record did not supply the names of their parents) Notes: Thomas' declaration of intention for citizenship yielded a different immigration date (Aug 1853) than did his immigration information on the 1900 census (1851). (The 1910 census listed no immigration info). The witness to the declaration is Sibina's brother Frank, who, the document says, came "at the same time." However, I've traced Frank and Sibina's family back to 1850 in Washington Twp., Washington, Indiana, so it seems that the Gaughans immigrated before Thomas did. However, the fact that Sabina's death certificate lists her mother as Grace <McDonald> indicates that Thomas, Sabina's husband, may have been related to Sabina's mother, and could therefore have been from the same town. Therefore, I've been spending many hours collecting data on Sabina's family, which seems to be easier to find than Thomas' family. Good Hunting, Michael P.S. I research weekly at the Family History Library in Salt Lake. I'd be happy to collaborate with interested researchers.
