Before births were officially recorded, beginning in most Ohio counties in 1867, one place to look is church records for baptisms. These sometimes give a birth date or if the church performs infant baptisms, you may at least have an approximate date and most church records name the parents and the sponsors. You would need to determine or speculate as to the religious affiliation of your ancestors. Also keep in mind that people often attended a nearby church, whether or not that was their first choice of denomination. If you know the location of their residence, maps of the time and histories will help you to determine the location of the closest churches. I assume that you have the death certificates and that these do not list date of birth nor parents. Hope these ideas will help you. Carol
