    3. Randy, I had a great aunt who in 1964 at the age of 77 wrote a family history in which she said, "should have told you in the beginning how Wintersville was named...for our great, great grandfather Winters. He was the first settler in Wintersville. He came from Guernsey County, down from around Cambridge, Lorre City, and St Clairsville. Great-great grandfather had four daughters. Rhoda (Winters) married great-grandfather Elijah Lowry (my ancestor). Catherine (Winters) married John Floyd." No other daughters were mentioned, nor did she mention the first name of her great-great grandfather Winters. This was written for my father, Richard Host Cole. Elijah Lowry b1827, Guernsey Co, Ohio, d 9/6/1878, Wintersville Ohio. Married Rhoda Winters 9/25/1851. Hope this information gives you some type of a lead in tracing Stiles Winters.
