Hi Bobbie, Forgive me, but my mind is so rusty as I never seem to get a chance to look at Schiappa reference books. But Schiappa has books providing information connecting those early ministers and their churches which were published by earlier genealogist in Jeff. Co., OH. I remember a small chapter devoted to this. And the county history books includes the churches and some of the ministers. It would require a dedicated person to take the time to look. If John Thompson preached for a considerable time and was well liked, he should appear somewhere in those books. There were also Ministers of God, not connected with a church who performed the marriage ceremony as well, and you'll see the phrase connected with their signature on the marriage record. And make sure you request a copy of the "actual" marriage record rather than just an abstracted page from a book which indexes vital records. They sometimes include interesting bit's of information - such as "married at the bride's home, father - John Doe in _____ township." Hope someone out there knows your answer, Julia <Would it be possibe to find the church where John Thompson married Marie Ross in Steubenville, on 2 June 1827.?? Maybe their parents names would be there.>
