I have been searhing in vain for William Chaney in Jefferson, He is listed as having paid tax there in 1809 and 1810. thanks to the census on line now, I believe he is listed as William Chancey. He had to be in Ohio by 1800,as that is when my g-g-grandfather William Chaney Junior was born. In the 1830c, William Chancey is listed living beside, Duffet Chadwell in Springfield twp. I'am sure Duffet's wife was Mahala Chaney. I'am not sure who her father was. I believe it was Charles Chaney (listed, Chany/Chancy) also Springfield twp.. The 1850c shows Mahala Chadwell as a widow, age 47 b. in MD. in 1803. I believe it's possible that William and Charles were brother's. Can anyone help me? Loretta
