Janice, I can't really say that I am researching the Hammond family or Hammondsville. I am trying to tie together pieces of information from the family history poem with what I've learned is a today fact. 1. I have a copy of the 1870 Springfield Twp, Jeff. Co., map that has Wells on a piece of land north of the S. Davidson land that lies adjacent to the G. Hammond land. 2. I have directly linked Sarah Hammond, b. 1807 in E.S, Jeff. County, married John R. Morrison, (b. 1802 of Bald Eagle, Centre County, PA)in Jefferson County on Feb 24, 1825. 3. Abby Hammond married Leonard Leasure in Stark County, OH. 4. The family history poem states that Hammond, Wells and our William Davidson came from Washington County, PA to Jeff. County, OH 5. The book, History of the Upper Ohio Valley, Vol. 2 states that William and Samuel Davidson bought land in 1802 while living in Washington County. William moved his family to Jeff. County in 1806. (With him were his wife, Mary (Coil) Davidson and children Samuel and Elizabeth. So this is what I am working with, if it helps anyone that is great. If anyone can help me find the documentation to prove this, I would be more than very happy. A descendant of Mr. Hammond who came with Davidson and Wells still resides on the family farm today. That is all I have so far, Janice. Kay Janice G. Donley wrote: > > Was this Hammond related to the Thomas Hammond who founded Hammondsville, > Jefferson County, Ohio.
