Both mines closed before 1910.The Jumbo mine was also known as the Deal Mine located between Bergholz and Mechanicstown. The Eastern Mine also known as the West Pittsburgh opened between 1900-1904 two miles south of Bergholz The Wolf Run Mine also known as the Elizabeth, opened in 1905 was located on the L.E.A.&W. railroad line. The Rice Mine was at the end of the L.E.A.&W. line. The XL Mine closed 1925 The Goathill Mine opened in 1915 The Cloverleaf located south of Bergholz Jensie Mine opened 1950 in East Springfield. The Parsons Mine-just East of Bergholz Amos Wells Mine-east of Bergholz Joe Beadnell Mine-east of Bergholz Orville Leishman Mine-on the John George farm Charles Jenkins Mine-on the Scott Allen farm Ted Harris Mine-on the Mordie Griffith farm Centertown Coal Co.-at Mooretown Also two mines in Brimstone Hollow Haun Mine-Elk Horn Run Today there are no mines operating in the area to my knowledge.
