I've been reading all the coal mine info, thinking it was interesting, but certainly didn't apply to me. Then I saw the comment "killed by cars" and suddenly realized I had seen that comment on the death record of one of my relatives, William Mooney Cullum. He was an engineer with the Railroad, so I had assumed his death was RR cars (this was in 1880). Now I'm having to rethink this. Anyone out there know anything about the railroad history in Jeff Co? All of my mother's relatives were in that county from about 1800 til 1900, so any/all info regarding the history of the county really is fascinating. I can get the dates, etc, but what I really want is to know more about them and where they lived and what they did. Those are the difficult things to learn. So thanks for all the exciting glances into the past. Jan Kolb ( my Jeff Co names-Cooper,Cullum, Mooney, Johnston, Allen, Glenn, Vantilburgh, Leatherberry, Emmons)
