Marqel, I looked in the 1871 Atlas of Jeff. Co. and there are no Balsley listed (or similar spellings.) There are two Twaddle's: a J. Twaddle in Springfield Twp. (near Ross and Brush Creek border); and A. Twaddle in Brush Creek. Regarding marriage certificates, I have obtained a copy through the Probate Court in Jeff. Co. I first phoned to see if they had such a record, since they have an index for many of the marriages. I was told they did, and so I then followed up with a letter and payment for the copy. I didn't mind the long distance charge, since I at least knew right away. Mind you, the early records don't have a lot of information. But just seeing the old handwriting is kind of exciting!
