Terri and Chuck, Excellent idea to put mining and steamboat building information into a special site. I wonder what other industries, including farming were going on in those days. For agriculture, what kinds of farms? Was there a milling industry or family mills? Was flour shipped? Were there beef and dairy cattle both? What other animals were used for income? As for other industry, was there logging? Refraction or brick making? Shipping of course on the river. etc. Also is there a site describing the town of Steubenville or surounding towns. Ie size, businesses, etc. Also, is there a history site, telling of early settlers and their lives such as Indian raids, and the effect the Revolutionary War had. I found the book, "The Dark and Bloody River" to be very amazing in what the settlers put up with or endured and suffered through.
