Hello, Noticed the interest in the early history of Jefferson Co., OH. There is a book, "The 20th Century History of Steubenville and Jefferson Co., OH", Doyle, 1910 which is 1196 pages in small print, and 9" x 11". Just filled with the early history of the area. The Jefferson County Historical Association did a reprint in 1992 and added a 122 page Everyname Index. Unfortunately, there are only 2 copies left (back in Oct) and the price is $75.00. It would be a wonderful dream to have this on-line as Washington Co., PA Gen Web did with their early county history. We can certainly hope for a similar project when the remaining copies are "sold-out". Past-President, Bridgette Osz of JCC OGS volunteered her time on this very same project and might give ideas. And regarding Jan's reference to "killed by cars" on her relative's death records. Suggest she and others write to Sandy Day for a $2.00 search for all the newspapers obits and accidents were reported in all their gory detail and were considered newsworthy.
