Enjoyed the coal mining - meanwhile, since I am in WY and have never been to OH, and my Benj Reed was a boat builder... I have a question, which I hope someone can answer. Where did the timbers for the shipbuilding come from? I can understand the whys of building here at the head of the Ohio River, but where did the timber come from? Was it milled locally? I read somewhere, they also made the flatboats that a family took down the Ohio, then used the lumber for building wagons and/or their homes when they reached their destination down river. Anyone???
