The Jefferson County Chapter OGS meeting is inviting all those interested in learning more about using LDS records for researching your ancestors to our annual field trip to the Family History Center! This meeting is "FREE" and open to the public. You do have to be a member to attend! September 2nd, 2003 at the LDS Family History Center, Wintersville, OH The business meeting begins at 6:30p.m. followed by several presentations from 7-9pm. Presentations will cover the following LDS topics (and the FHC will be open for use of computers, microfilm and fiche readers during the presentations). * How to use the LDS Website and find sources available on LDS microfilm using www.familysearch.org (30 minutes) * How to use the IGI (International Genealogy Index)-including a special presentation on how to use the Batch numbers. We will include a Q&A time. (30 minutes) * How to use the AIS - What it is and how to research early colonial ancestors using the AIS as a source. (20 minutes) * You will take a tour the FHC complete with a "overview," equipment, holdings, and answer any questions concerning a more recent LDS resource, the PEDIGREE RESOURCE FILES (which is similiar to the Ancestral file, but we will explain the differences and how much more efficient the Pedigree Resource Files will be in researching and eliminating errors and merging of records) .
