    3. I thin this was very rude. We who do genealogy get all kinds of emails and if we cannot be aware then what is the use? Not everyone can afford Norton and the expense of the updates, especially with the very dangerous ones out there. The virus of which this person spoke is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and Not all virus scans catch it. You can get a virus, opening an attachment from your father! Those who feel this is a shortcoming on our parts, to be concerned should maybe go to the site and read. Maybe even run the test to see if you have it. Then hope you computer boots back up. No virus scan is infalable, and when they are not updated for a few days after notification of said virus......well most of us have already deleted it 3-4 times and I WAS Using MCAFEE one of the best. Now I use another FREE, updated FREE, and automatically. It should be at the bottom of this post, if not email me and I will be more than glad to share. I agree that this is not a forum for a lot of posted hoaxs, etc. but I was one of those who felt the need to send info on. No one checked to see if it was a hoax, they ran the check and fix that I sent because they trust me, not to send false info....and this person is one of them. I am sorry I do not know who you are, but glad you listened. It is running rampid and Very Dangerous. What good is our list, if we all get a virus that distroys our computer......Norton is NOT infalable! http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2001-22.html The next one gives you a test to see if you got it. That is the one I used. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]> http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/viruses/sircam/default.asp?cid=2371> AVG should be at the end of this post if not ask, privately please [email protected] >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: Virus directed at genealogists >Date: Sat, 28 Jul 2001 03:02:53 EDT > >Your Norton anti-virus program should catch those things, that is what it >is >for--you do not need to "buy" any other program.
