<<Last night I received an e-mail which was directed to the genealogy world that had a virus in it. Thank heavens I was suspicious and scanned it with my Norton first. I erased it so fast that I forgot to write down everything about it, but it had an attachment that had a .pif extension. The message was labled something to the effect of Surnames--F. Sender's name was Anna or Anne B. King. Body of the message was unsigned, asking for my asistance. This was a worm type virus and very destructive. I got a message from someone else this morning who received a similar message, but with a different subject line. Her's had a subject line asking for her help. Be careful and very suspicious of anything with an attachment from someone you do not know!>> I know I may get some heat for forwarding this but feel that it is important and I want to share a great antivirus program, too. Go to www.inoculateit.com It's free and best of all, you can set it to stop you from opening anything that is suspected to be infected. It has caught two viruses and a worm on ours. We have never been infected in almost three years. You can also set it to remind you to auto-download the virus updates as often as you want. We have ours set at once a week because, between 4 of us (including two teenagers), we get a lot of email, so we might actually ought to bump it up to twice a week. Good luck!
