In a book in Fort Wayne, Indiana I found an obit for Mrs. Besse E. Polen. The book had several pages of obits someone had cut out and glued onto the pages with no newspaper name or dates shown. Scio, O., Jan 13--Mrs Ella Burcher received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Besse E. Polen at her home in Tucson, Arix., Jan 2.....united in marriage to Earl C. Polen July 17, 1904...daughter of James A. and Margaret Butcher...Survived by husband and three daughters, sister and brother Howard...Internment ...in Tucson. When did she die???? She is not on the Social Security Index. I figure she died in the 1940's or 50's. In the Tucson Daily Citizen I found an obit for her husband Earl C. (Pat). He died 11 July 1971, survived by his wife Johanna, three daughters and a son. He was buried at Tucson Memorial Park, South Lawn. I tried the cemetery and found that Johanna L. (1916-1993) was buried with him. The cemetery said that Besse was not buried in that cemetery. I would really like to know what year Bessie died. And if possible, Earl's parents' names. Bessie's parents were Margaret L. Groves and James A. Butcher both born in Jefferson Co and died in Harrison Co. Ella Butcher died 27 May 1960. She never married, but out lived all of her siblings. I would also like to know more about brothers Howard C. Polen of Steubenville, and John Paul Butcher who married Florence English. John Paul died 22 Jan 1936. Serena in Michigan [email protected]
